KinClaw 🦞

A computer-use agent that grows its own team.

KinClaw sees your screen, understands the interface, and clicks and types — on your real desktop, not a sandbox. When a job needs more hands, it reproduces: it clones specialists, forges the skills it is missing, and dispatches sub-agents on other models.

Five claws

screensees the screen — ScreenCaptureKit, through sckit-go
inputmoves the mouse and types — CGEvent, through input-go
uireads the interface semantically — the Accessibility API, through kinax-go
recordrecords screen and audio — kinrec
webdrives a browser — Playwright

The macOS libraries behind the first four are open source too — macOS building blocks for Go.

How it reproduces

Soul Clone

Duplicates a specialist into parallel workers, each a little different.

Skill Forge

When no existing skill can do the job, it drafts, writes, registers and tests a new one, then retries.

Sub-agent dispatch

Hands a task to a specialist child on a different model — researcher, eye, critic or coder.

Skipping the model when it can

For requests that match a known operation — rename a file, create a note, toggle a setting — a router matches the request against a library of shell actions and runs the action directly, with no model call. On the 379-task macbench v0.2 benchmark:

ConfigurationPassTime
Model only30.4%107 min
Router + action library48.0%76 min
Reference verifier (no model)84.3%22 min

It is opt-in per soul. The architecture and the measurements: the paper on localkin.dev.

Run it

Needs Go 1.25+. The default souls run on Ollama Cloud, so sign in to Ollama once.

$ git clone https://github.com/LocalKinAI/kinclaw && cd kinclaw
$ go install ./cmd/kinclaw
$ ollama signin
$ kinclaw -soul souls/pilot.soul.md

On first run macOS asks for Screen Recording and Accessibility; grant both and run it again. Rather have a chat window than a terminal?

$ kinclaw serve -soul souls/pilot.soul.md

Then open http://127.0.0.1:8020/. For a native Mac app with a global hotkey, see KinClaw Mac.

Linux and Windows

macOS is the daily driver. Linux and Windows ports landed in May 2026: they build, but how they behave at runtime is not verified yet. Testers are wanted — see TESTING.md and the tracking issues for Linux and Windows.

Apache License 2.0. KinClaw grew out of the earlier open-source localkin runtime. The LocalKin agent platform itself is closed source, at localkin.dev.
